Jean-Paul Gaultier

Jean-Paul Gaultier started his career in 1970 at Pierre Cardin, later launching his own brand in 1976. He was known as the enfant terrible of French fashion and in 1997 he entered the world of haute couture becoming an icon of fashion. The stylist was responsible for creating many of the outfits of a Madonna tour and made a big impact by using unconventional models in his shows.

Coco Chanel

Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel learned to sew with the nuns at the orphanage, this skill proved to be quite useful when she opened her first store in 1910. She was a feminist, independent woman who saw her career as a priority. It was a symbol of revolution at that time because it started by creating hats but then started to make comfortable clothes for women. She is the creator of Chanel nº5, her great success.

Yves Saint Laurent

The designer, born in 1936, is the founder of the Saint Laurent brand and one of the biggest names in haute couture in the 20th century. At 17 he left home and left for Paris, where he was able to show his drawings to Michele Brunhoff, director of French Vogue, who published them directly. While at fashion school he was introduced to Christian Dior, who left Dior’s control when he passed away. In 1961, he opened his own home as a French clothing brand and introduced his famous ‘Le Smoking’ just five years later.

Christian Dior

The iconic French stylist, who has always been interested in art, Christian Dior founded Dior’s home in 1946. After working for designers Robert Piguet and Lucien Lelong, Christian created his own brand. Christian was fascinated by its elegance and luxury and also by the concept of New Look – a very feminine line, with narrow waists and skirts above the knees.

Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton is the founder of the brand with his own name in 1854. The famous stylist started working as a bag maker and packer. First, it developed revolutionary trunks, made from the iconic monogram canvas. Son Georges presented the first Louis Vuitton handbag with an exclusive design, Keepall. He became known worldwide when he remodeled the classic shape of suitcases and created a unique design pattern that identifies his brand.
