Daniel Arsham is known for his sculptures, installations and collaborations in various artistic fields. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1980, Arsham grew up in Miami where the city’s cultural diversity and art shaped his vision and creativity. He studied at Cooper Union in New York.

His style

Arsham has the ability to transform ordinary objects into archaeological artifacts of the future, using materials such as plaster, broken glass and volcanic ash to create sculptures that look like archaeological excavations, but paradoxically represent contemporary elements.

He calls this concept “Fictional Archaeology”, where he challenges viewers to reconsider the temporality of objects. Degradation and wear and tear (aging) are the central elements in his works to show that everything, including pop culture, is subject to the erosion of time.

Future Relics

In this work, Daniel Arsham transforms technological items such as telephones, watches and cameras into fossils, and the pieces evoke a sense of nostalgia and curiosity.

Dior Collab

This collaboration was an example of how fashion and art together can create something innovative. Kim Jones as creative director of Dior did a collab with Daniel Arsham for the Spring/Summer collection where the artist incorporated his aesthetic and futuristic archaeological vision, creating pieces that evoke the feeling of relics from the future. During the fashion show, the set was transformed into an archaeological space with the artist’s sculptures decorating the space, creating an immersive experience for the guests.

Daniel’s ability to connect the present, past and future provides a unique experience and invites viewers to reflect on impermanence and the cyclical nature of technology and culture.
