Givenchy has been an influential force in fashion for decades. The brand is synonymous with timeless elegance, innovation and a unique ability to reinvent itself while remaining true to its roots. In this article we will learn about the history of the brand.

Hubert de Givenchy, born in 1972 in Beauvais, France, was interested in fashion from an early age. At the age of 25, he founded the Givenchy house in Paris, with the aim of creating clothes that combined elegance with simplicity. In 1952, he launched his first collection with the “Separates” concept, where garments could be combined in different ways.

One of the most important milestones in Givenchy’s history was the brand’s collaboration with the famous actress Audrey Hepburn in 1953. Audrey became Givenchy’s inspirational muse and wore the brand’s creations in iconic films such as “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”, among others. This partnership defined the aesthetic of the Givenchy brand for decades.

In 1957, Givenchy expanded its product range and launched its first perfume, L’Interdit, which was inspired by actress Audrey Hepburn. This launch marked the beginning of Givenchy’s diversification into luxury products such as perfumes, cosmetics and accessories.

In 2017, Clare Waight Keller became the brand’s creative director, where she brought a modern and sophisticated approach, balancing tradition and innovation. One of the most important milestones for Mason and Clare was the creation of Meghan Markle’s wedding dress in 2018 and it was praised for its elegance and simplicity.
