More than a Luxury Brand, Prada Milano is a symbol of Italian heritage and their collections continue to inspire the fashion world from their iconic travel bags and leather goods.

Fratelli Prada

The brand was founded in 1913 by brothers Mario and Martino Prada in Milan under the name Fratelli Prada. In the beginning, their vision was to create elegant, high-quality leather goods such as suitcases, trunks and handbags. And in 1919, the store attracted the Italian aristocracy and royal family and the brand gained a lot of recognition.

Prada

In the 70s, Miuccia Prada, Mario’s granddaughter, revolutionized the brand. She took over Prada and brought with her a new perspective to the brand that subsequently revolutionized the fashion industry. Miuccia had a vision for fashion, starting by experimenting with styles and materials that defied convention. The introduction of the black nylon bag was a challenge for Miuccia as it was considered a material with no association to the leather that everyone was used to, and Miuccia saw potential in this material and created a practical and elegant bag. The bag was a success and opened the door to Prada’s new product lines, which combine elegance, luxury and practicality.

In the 1990s, Prada positioned itself as an innovative brand in the fashion industry, its collections were surprising and inspiring, Miuccia used new materials and new manufacturing techniques and it was at this time that the brand began to present fashion shows that made an impact and were recognized as one of the best by Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Fondazione Prada

Miuccia Prada opened the Fondazione Prada in 1993 in Milan. It is dedicated to contemporary art and culture, organizing exhibitions, events linked to art, music, research projects and more. The foundation also owns a cinema and promotes events that explore social and cultural issues in partnership with other institutions.

Re-Nylon Collection

Miuccia Prada has had a huge impact on the brand, transforming a leather goods brand into one of the most influential brands in the fashion industry. Prada is committed to innovation, quality and sustainability, and the Re-Nylon line is one of the examples of Prada’s relationship with sustainability, where they have produced six models of their classic bags in recycled nylon from objects in the ocean. “Re-Nylon is the next step for technological fabric and sustainable luxury, it’s a fabric that can be regenerated continuously without losing its quality. A true cyclic luxury”.
