The Pantone Color Institute identifies color trends in different sectors, including fashion and design. The year’s color for 2022 was Veri Peri, a type of blue. It was selected for its use in the digital space. This year, it follows no different path, with the chosen color already having a name in the metaverse, or can we say ‘magentaverse’?

She adds that Viva Magenta portrays bravery and fearlessness while promoting a “joyful and optimistic celebration.”
Its vibrancy comes from the natural – and unnatural – world. The new color of the year is a bright and bold red called Viva Magenta. According to the company, the color represents the resilience, optimism, and creativity that many of us hope to feel as we enter the new year. But in a twist, the color also explores the interaction between the real and virtual worlds, which will become increasingly relevant as the metaverse becomes larger.
Pantone 18-1750 Viva Magenta (colors are cataloged by codes used for reference) descends from the family of reds and is inspired by cochineal red, “one of the most precious dyes belonging to the family of natural dyes, as well as one of the strongest and brightest in the world has ever known.”
